Words from Pastor

A THANK YOU to our Community from the Pastor and Congregation of
Union African Methodist Episcopal (UAME) Church, Warwick, New York

Reverend Vernon H. Peters, Pastor

“O give thanks to the Lord for He is good; for His mercy endures forever” Psalm 136:1

It is with grateful hearts and a kindred spirit that I write on behalf of the Ministerial staff, Officers and Members of UAME congregation to say thank you, thank you, thank you!!! To the good people of  this great community, the Town and Village of Warwick, and the surrounding neighborhoods, for so graciously devoting their time, talent and money to help save this 101 year old Gothic structure. Built for worship where the spirit of the Lord dwelled and lives were transformed in every way God made possible, we were all able to witness history unfold. For this, we will be forever grateful for our many blessings God has bestowed upon us.

We are appreciative for the preservation of our Historical Edifice, which in the final process will become an African American Museum located in the Village of Warwick and serving Orange County in the Hudson Valley Region.  We thank God for those who have paved the way for us after willingly answering the call of God, and came together as one people united in God. For their works have benefited us both in the past and the present as we all have been blessed and touched in one way or the other.

We offer special thanks to the Historical Society for their vision and tireless effort in seeing this project through. To Mayor Michael Newhard of the Village of Warwick, for his dedication and commitment, Mayor Newhard, a pillar of this community, Michael Sweeney, the Town Supervisor for allowing us to continue to have a place of worship over the pass two years at the Senior Citizen Center, Architect Jeff  DeHaan, for donating his time, Engineer David Getz, Doug Stage our attorney, our  Builder and Construction Manager, Matthew Felter, the Police Department for their tireless work, the Fire Department for being on the alert, WVT Communication, Orange and Rockland Company, and all the volunteers for their time. We are monumentally grateful to our team of leaders. To God be the glory, great things he has done!!

The Work is All Divine!

Yours in Christ

Rev. Vernon H. Peters, Pastor and First Lady, Sis. Cheryl Browne-Peters
