Dear Union
Family and Friends:
Realizing & Achieving
Gods Purpose Driven Life
Every
man and woman is born into the world to do something unique and something distinctive, and
if he or she does not do it, it will never be done.
Benjamin Elijah Mays
I
chose this quotation because it symbolizes the essence of Pauls calling for running
toward the mark of the high calling.
Have
you answered your calling from God? Are you running toward your appointment for Gods
Divine Destiny just for you? Are you reaching toward the purpose that has your name etched
on its historical tablet? If you have not or cannot answer these questions, then it is
time to speak with God.
God
chose Moses to lead his people from slavery to freedom. Moses answered his calling! God
chose Mary to be the mother of Jesus! Mary responded to her purpose in life! God chose Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr., to part the sea of racism in America. Dr. King used his gifts to
answer Gods calling on his life. Rosa Parks, the mother of the modern day Civil
Rights movement, lit the torch for freedom. Rosa Parks knew that God had called her to
service.
The
challenge for each of us today is to answer Gods calling on our life! There are so
many distractive forces competing for your time, gifts and energy. Your job, your
relationships, your family and others with their own agenda are each pulling and tugging
at your very being. I am here to tell you that if you answer Gods calling on your
life first, then everything else will fall in place. Instead of forces pulling and tugging
at you, each component will fit like a perfect puzzle. Allow God to direct the puzzle
pieces in your life to come together. Stop trying to put puzzle pieces together that are a
bad fit.
Answer God's calling, like Moses, Mary, Rosa and Dr. King. It is a great tragedy not to answer God's calling on your life. Dr. Benjamin Mays, for former President of
Morehouse College and a mention to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said it best:
|
The
tragedy of life doesnt lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no
goal to reach. It isnt a calamity to die with dreams unfilled, but it is a
calamity not to dream. It is not a disgrace to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to
have no starts to reach for. Not failure, but low aim, is a sin. |
So
aim high! Reach for the starts. One of those stars has your name on it! It has your
special calling written in spiritual ink. It is waiting for you to reach and to act on
Gods purpose in your life. Remember God made you for a reason. Answer your calling!
Yours in Christ,
Rev.
